For the Profhilo treatment, there are no specific preparations needed. However, you may be asked to stop taking certain medications to prevent bruising or bleeding from worsening. Remember, a specialist will discuss the necessary steps to be taken before the procedure.

How does the Profhilo treatment work?

The Profhilo treatment works by injecting one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid into the skin. The needle is inserted into specific skin points, injecting the acid. This then stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting moisture into the deep layers of your skin. How many sessions and injections are needed?

The injectable skin remodeling treatment allows you to go home and get on with ‘light’ daily activities immediately after your procedure.

NEO Health Clinic’s specialists do not recommend massaging or manipulating the treated area. This can cause the acid to spread outside the injected area and produce uneven collagen. It’s also important not to be exposed to extreme weather, such as intense sun heat or cold weather, as this can also affect the product’s efficacy.

Both Profhilo and fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid component is a water-binding molecule that is a naturally occurring substance produced by human skin, and as a person ages, it produces less. Hyaluronic acid is made up of chains that draw and holds water.

With fillers, the chain is modified slightly and crosslinked to clump together and stay within the injection site to create volume. But volumising the skin may cause skin laxity and prevent a dewy-looking texture.

With a skin-booster injectable such as Profhilo, the hyaluronic acid chain is less modified to spread and absorb water along the way evenly. Therefore, the natural hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment provides intense hydration to the skin without volumising the face.

Everyone ages differently and has different needs and preferences, so the treatment is not specific for a certain age. However, most experts agree that Profhilo is best to start in the early 30s because that is when most people begin to see their first signs of skin ageing.
